Our Core Commitment: Zero Telemetry
At MUZI Music, we believe your music listening habits and personal audio libraries are strictly your private business. Unlike modern commercial streaming platforms, MUZI does not track, record, analyze, profile, or monetize your behavior.
This Privacy Policy outlines how MUZI operates with complete respect for your digital sovereignty and transparency.
Information We Never Collect
When you use the MUZI desktop application or browse our project website:
- No Listening History: We do not log what songs, albums, or artists you play.
- No Local File Indexing: We do not upload or monitor the filenames, metadata, or directories of your local audio files.
- No Account Required: MUZI does not require you to create an account, provide an email address, or sign in to use the desktop player.
- No Tracking Cookies: Our website contains no analytics trackers, advertising beacons, or third-party pixel scripts.
- No Hardware Identifiers: We do not track MAC addresses, device fingerprints, or unique hardware serial numbers.
Local Storage & Device Caching
Local Database
MUZI saves your application preferences (such as audio equalizer presets, volume levels, theme selections, and custom playlists) entirely on your local machine within your operating system's standard user configuration folder.
Cached Artwork & Audio Buffers
Album art and streaming buffers are stored temporarily in your local disk cache to improve playback performance and enable offline listening. You can clear this cache at any time directly through the app settings or your OS file manager.
Third-Party Services & Integrations (Optional)
MUZI offers optional integrations for users who choose to enable external services:
- Discord Rich Presence: If enabled in settings, MUZI communicates locally via the Discord RPC client on your computer to display the currently playing track in your status.
- Last.fm Scrobbling: If you connect a Last.fm account, track metadata is transmitted directly from your client to Last.fm via their official API according to Last.fm's privacy policy.
- Online Streams / Feeds: When streaming from external audio feeds or radio stations, your IP address is visible to the hosting server providing that stream as a standard requirement of internet network protocols.
Software Updates & GitHub
MUZI queries the public GitHub Releases API over encrypted HTTPS to check if a newer version of the player is available. No user data or telemetry is attached to these requests.
Open Source Transparency
Because MUZI is 100% open-source, every line of networking and storage code is openly available for audit, inspection, and verification by independent security researchers and users on our GitHub repository.
